Dubai International Airport is where most visitors start their stay, and it is also a convenient handover point for residents coming home from a trip. Rentop is a marketplace: the cars belong to licensed rental partners and you book them at the price they set. You do not queue at a rental desk in the terminal. The partner meets you at the airport with the car, you check it together with your documents, and you pay at that moment.

Today 452 cars can be delivered to Dubai Airport, from AED 85 per day.

404 of them are delivered free of charge anywhere in Dubai, the airport included.

When a partner charges for delivery, the fee ranges from AED 50 to AED 200 and is shown on the car page before you book.

How the handover works at each terminal

Dubai Airport DXB has several passenger terminals, and the partner needs to know which one you land at. When you book, add your flight number, your terminal and your phone number. The handover usually happens once you have collected your bags and left the arrivals hall:

• Terminal 3: the Emirates terminal, used by most Emirates flights.
• Terminal 1: used by most other international airlines.
• Terminal 2: used by many flydubai flights and other regional airlines.
• The exact meeting point, at the arrivals exit or in the terminal car park, is agreed with the partner before you land.

Flight delays and late arrivals

Flights can land early or late, and passport control and baggage claim take longer at busy times. Set the handover time a little after your scheduled landing, keep your phone on when you land and message the partner if your flight is delayed. Delivery times depend on each partner, so check the car page if you land late at night.

How much does it cost to rent a car at Dubai Airport?

The price does not depend on the pickup point: a car costs the same at the airport as anywhere else in Dubai. What changes it is the category, the length of the rental and the deposit. The table above gives the starting price of each category today.

Renting by the week starts from AED 500, and by the month from AED 1,475.

Driving from the airport into Dubai

The airport sits beside Deira and Al Qusais. From there, Sheikh Zayed Road takes you to Downtown Dubai and on to Dubai Marina, and Mirdif is just to the east. You pass Salik toll gates on the main roads: tolls are counted during the rental and paid at the end of it.

Each rental includes around 250 km per day, enough to reach any district of the city on your first day.

Documents you need

Keep your documents in your hand luggage so the handover is quick. Tourists: a passport, a visit visa and your home driving licence. Licences from the UK, the United States, Canada, most European countries and many others are accepted as they are; for other countries, add an International Driving Permit. UAE residents: a UAE driving licence and an Emirates ID. The minimum age depends on the partner and is shown on each car page.
