Driving and parking in International City

International City sits next to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Awir Road, which connect it to Sharjah in the north, Downtown and Business Bay to the west, and the newer districts to the south. Some routes across Dubai pass Salik toll gates: tolls are counted during the rental and paid at the end of it.

Parking in the clusters is in open lots between the buildings and gets crowded in the evening, when everyone is home. Rules can differ from one area to another, so check the signs, and ask your building whether it has reserved spaces.

Is a car worth it in International City?

For most residents, yes. The community is spread out and the business districts are a drive away, so a car turns a long journey into a manageable one. It also makes weekend trips easy, to Downtown Dubai, the beaches or Dubai Airport, where you can also have a car delivered on arrival.

UAE residents: a UAE driving licence and an Emirates ID. Tourists: a passport, a visit visa and your home driving licence. Licences from the UK, the United States, Canada, most European countries and many others are accepted as they are; for other countries, add an International Driving Permit.
